About the Artist

Catherine Howe was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated fro Indiana University with a

Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Art has always played a huge role in her life. She has previously worked as a Fashion Illustrator,

Graphic Designer and Art Director for various advertising agencies as well as being the

Art Director/Graphic Designer for a national vacation airline.

Catherine is passionate about pastels because of their pure pigment and rich colors.

She draws inspiration from nature; both sea and sky. She welcomes the challenge of

portraying the relationship between the shifting atmosphere and the constant changing 

conditions of the sea. She tries to capture moments of silence and movement in the sky

and the waves of the ocean, the stormy as well as the calmness.

A resident of York, Maine, Catherine has had numerous solo and group shows throughout the New England area.

Her pastels can be seen in galleries in California, Boston, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

 She is a avid runner and has run the Boston

marathon eight times.
